Joe Hoenig (died July 6, 2013) was a U.S. Navy Admiral and the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under the administration of President Benjamin Asher. He was succeeded by Edward Clegg.
He was held hostage in the White House during the White House Siege and later killed in the helicopter suicide bombing on the North Lawn of the White House.

Olympus Has Fallen[]
Admiral Hoenig was present during an diplomatic meeting between President Asher and other high-ranking officials about the increased tension between North Korea and South Korea.
After South Korean Prime Minister Lee Tae-Woo and his delegation arrived in the White House, Admiral Hoenig was present in the Oval Office in the meeting. When the C-130 Hercules starts attacking Washington, D.C., the admiral joined the others to the elevator that goes down to the PEOC bunker. After they reached the floor of the PEOC which was 120 feet underground, Admiral Hoenig entered the bunker along with everyone else.
When the Koreans for United Freedom took the President and other important officials hostage, he too was kept hostage and later forced to reveal his Cerberus code. He was later killed in the suicide bombing on the North Lawn along with Presidential aide Mary Jane Fuller. He was avenged by Mike Banning after he killed Kang Yeonsak and all his remaining henchman.
Trivia[]
- Admiral Hoenig's first name was revealed to be "Joe" when President Asher told him to give him his Cerberus code, but in the end credits his first name was mistakenly revealed to be "Nathan".
- Hoenig is the second hostage to be used as leverage against the President and the first to break in giving up an access code for the Cerberus computer. He breaks after the President gives him permission to give it up and so to avoid being killed in front of everyone.
